Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) is a global
student-run NPO that encourages and empowers the world’s youth to make an
impact in the Space industry. SEDS VIT serves as the headquarters for SEDS
India. We aim to promote interest in space exploration in students across
India and increase inter-chapter collaboration. With its various
conferences, events, competitions and outreach programmes, the chapter has
been a guiding light for the students in and around Vellore and has earned
the award for the Best Student Chapter in VIT three times since its
inception.

The core committee is responsible for conducting various space-themed conferences, events, and competitions within our campus for students from colleges all over the country. It also collaborates with SEDS India for national-level events which allow the participants to see the space industry as an exciting and viable career option.

Our Outreach programme extends to the local schools in and around Vellore where we teach the students about how the universe works using interactive teaching methods and an in-depth curriculum. The programme helps us stay true to our mission of arousing interest in space exploration among young students from all backgrounds and empowering them to pursue it further.

The Projects division meanwhile focuses on the technical aspects of space exploration by working on individual, or team-projects such as Mars rovers and UAVs for international competitions. Members are encouraged to use their academic learning to pursue their passion and help boost India’s bid to become a space-superpower.
